Limekilns Lighthouse is the youth organisation within Limekilns Parish Church that meets each Sunday morning. Our aim is to provide a firm grounding in the teachings of the Bible, giving guidance which enables our children and young people to make positive decisions about the way they live their lives.
We start at 10am in church for the first part of the service, and then continue in the church hall with activities to help us learn more about God.
There are three age groups - 3 to 5 years old, Primary 2 to P6 and P7 upwards. Each week, our subject will be the same for each group, but will be age - appropriate. We enjoy Bible stories, games and quizzes, songs and craft activities.
What's going on in 2010?
After a busy Chritmas period, we are focusing on the work done to establish the Early Church. So far, over January & February, the children have learnt about the work done by Peter and John, and some of this has been led by our Young Leaders, who are injecting some great enthusiasm!.
In March, our sessions will look at the Easter story, and concentrate on Jesus' prayers when He knew what was going to happen to him, and how Peter was sorry that he let Jesus down by not being brave. In the midst of this, on 14th March, we will think about our mothers (it being Mothers Day!) After Easter, our plans will lead to the story of Paul and how his life was transformed by Jesus. We invite all children - whether living nearby or just visiting - to join us on Sunday mornings from 10am, where you will be made very welcome.
For the past two years we have taken part in a sponsored sleepover at church to raise money and awareness of homeless people.
Above all, we enjoy each other's company and have fun learning about our Lord Jesus.
Lighthouse is open to all young people, whether living locally or just visiting. Do come - we would love to see you!
