The Lighthouse

Limekilns Lighthouse is the youth organisation within Limekilns Parish Church that meets each Sunday morning. Our aim is to provide a firm grounding in the teachings of the Bible, giving guidance which enables our children and young people to make positive decisions about the way they live their lives.

We start at 10am in church for the first part of the service, and then continue in the church hall with activities to help us learn more about God.

There are three age groups - 3 to 5 years old, Primary 2 to P6 and P7 upwards. Each week, our subject will be the same for each group, but will be age - appropriate. We enjoy Bible stories, games and quizzes, songs and craft activities.

This year, we have been studying the Parables - stories Jesus told to help us understand God's message.

There have been many familiar ones, such as the tale of the Good Samaritan, or of the seed falling on different types of ground. We have also learned about using the Talents given to us by God, how much God loves us, and the importance of obeying His word so that we are ready when He calls us.

In addition we have been involved in creating window displays for the post office, visiting other churches for activities and parties, taking part in themed craft sessions and raising funds to sponsor a little girl in Kenya called Purity.

For the past two years we have taken part in a sponsored sleepover at church to raise money and awareness of homeless people.

Above all, we enjoy each other's company and have fun learning about our Lord Jesus.

Lighthouse is open to all young people, whether living locally or just visiting. Do come - we would love to see you!
