People walk passed the church in Limekilns every day. Some wait for a bus and have a look at the notice board, but don't really pay a lot of attention to what it says, after all, "it's only for the church folk, isn't it?".

Well one of 'the church folk' thought we should let everyone see what we do, and so was born The Inside Out Kirk

OK! So what is The Inside Out Kirk?

If you turn something inside-out and see what is hidden on the other side, you get a completely different perspective on it. Take an old fashioned clock, with its intricate cogs and wheels, we can often become so comfortable with its outward aspect that we don't think about how it operates. It is only when you turn the clock inside-out that you can see how amazing the machinery is on the inside and marvel at what makes it tick!

This is what Inside-out Kirk is all about.

What goes on within the four walls of the Church building is not immediately obvious. Unless the passer-by goes inside to investigate in detail, he sees only an 18th Century façade, and a building almost museum-like in its appearance! People need to look behind that façade to see what makes the Church tick!

There is going to be a weekend of events during the weekend of 30th and 31st May which will show everyone what these people in the church actually do.

The intention is that there will be a marquee on the Village Green outside the Bruce Arms Hotel. This has been sourced by the Church's friends from the 81st Scouts who have arranged for sleepovers to ensure its overnight security (Try not to wake the little darlings as you leave the Bruce on your way home - The Webmaster). On Saturday 30th the tent will host praise music - modern, gospel, brass-band and others - and exhibitions showing the community and international work with which the Church is involved. These will include our involvement with the homeless of Dunfermline, the AIDS orphanage at Imkerhof in Namibia, the persecuted Church in Nepal and church member's work with Mercy Ships in Africa.

Cup of tea

You'll be able to enjoy tea, coffee, cakes am and pm, and you won't even have to go home for lunch - take advantage of the BBQ! We hope to finish off with a picnic (bring your own) after the Service in the Tent (suitable for all ages) on Sunday 31st.

There will be loads of stuff to keep the children involved and when you need a bit of peace and quiet and some space for reflection, the Church building, full of flowers, will be available throughout the day.
